Summer Language School 2016
St John’s Beaumont runs an annual EAL Summer Language School for pupils aged between 7 and 13 years of age every July.  The course is well suited to children of elementary or intermediate level English and lasts for 3 weeks.
Staff to pupil ratio is kept deliberately low at 1:4 to ensure that each pupil receives the best possible care and attention both during the academic but also the wider curriculum.  All staff employed to run this course are known personally to the School and all major positions are held by full time and permanent members of the St John’s boarding and academic staff.
The 2016 Language School will run from Sunday 16th July to Sunday 5th August : please contact the Admissions Secretary, Mrs Katherine Masterson for registration details and for further information (+44 1784 494053 or [email protected])
The course covers comprehensive elements of English Grammar and comprehension skills as well as projects in Science, Music, Art and Geography. Â Pupils engage in a wide variety of activities including; music, art, drama, sports and excursions to London and surrounding areas of interest. Â Applications from pupils who speak the same language are carefully monitored and limited to ensure language provision of the highest quality.
We aim also to introduce pupils to a range of culturally significant experiences and visits are made to see some of the most famous landmarks and destinations in the world, including: Buckingham Palace, The Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Stonehenge, Windsor Castle, Runnymede, Oxford University and many more besides. Â Pupils also enjoy a wide range of afternoon or evening activities which include amongst others; pottery, cake making, art, rock climbing, swimming, tennis, rocket making, film making and photography.
24 hour medical cover is available to all pupils during the duration of the course and great care is taken to provide them with a diet that is nutritious but which also aims to introduce new, appealing and culturally interesting dishes.
Pupils are admitted only for the full duration of the 3 week course as the curriculum is planned specifically to build upon the linguistic skills taught throughout the course.
The cost of the course includes all food, stationery, learning materials, trips, airport transfers from Heathrow Airport and Language School memorabilia (fleece, cap, ruck sack, soft toy and t-shirt).
