Curriculum

The curriculum at St John’s is designed to ensure breadth, balance and coherence of studies. We recognise the pivotal role of a child’s motivation in the learning process, and we are passionate about ensuring that our students find relevance and connectivity to the world beyond the classroom.

Teaching in-side and out-side of the classroom is underpinned by High Performance Learning (HPL); a teaching philosophy that instills in pupils the cognitive abilities to become excellent learners.

The curriculum is broad and includes: English, Maths, Science, Religious Education, PSHE, History, Geography, Music, Art & Design, Drama, P.E and Swimming.

Games is added from Year 2.

Pupils from Year 3 learn French, with the addition of Latin in Year 6.

Forest School is a fundamental part of Pre-Prep and Middle School and not only takes advantage of our wonderful woodland estate, but fosters holistic development in children and a deeper connection to our natural environment.
