Welcome to St John’s Beaumont. ¬†We are a Roman Catholic, Jesuit¬†boarding and day preparatory school for boys aged 3-13. ¬†Located within easy reach of Heathrow Airport and West and Central London, St John’s, the oldest purpose built preparatory school in the country and, founded in 1888, combines¬†the rich tradition of Jesuit education with the very best that modern teaching techniques and technology can offer. ¬†Boys leave St John’s aged 13 and move to some of the country‚Äôs finest schools, but more importantly do so as confident, aspirational and resilient young men, aware of their own potential and their ability to leave a positive impression on the lives of others.

We are proud of our boys and of the way they engage so enthusiastically in the enrichment opportunities that we offer. ¬†Whether it be the many optional cultural trips, our ‘Magis’ programme, the wide list of extra-curricular¬†activities or other competitions and challenges, a St John’s boy is encouraged to develop a sense of resilience and confidence through trying new and at times, daunting opportunities.

“Care of the individual is at the heart of Jesuit education, and therefore at the heart of our work at St John’s.”
Giles Delaney

Together with Microsoft, the school is working to build a state of the art educational programme that will support the teaching and learning of our boys.  All boys study a rich variety of subjects within the curriculum and this is further supported by an excellent extra-curricular programme (totalling over 50 different activities) for boys of all ages, including; rowing, rock climbing, polo, SJBTV, philosophy, aesthetics, golf and SCUBA diving!  We place great emphasis on the academic and pastoral development of our boys and as a result the curriculum and our teaching approach is planned very much with boys in mind.

hm1A purpose-built¬†sports centre, opened by Her Majesty the Queen, includes; a 30′ rock climbing wall, an indoor cricket nets facility, a performing arts studio, rowing room, gymnasium, IT suite¬†and main sports hall.

Whilst we enjoy enviable academic,¬†artistic and sporting¬†facilities, it is the learning environment, the sense of independence, responsibility¬†and enjoyment that I¬†believe characterise both St John’s¬†and our boys.

In September 2015 we introduced further important curricular developments that aim to support the boys both in their lives at St John’s but importantly at their next school and beyond. ¬†Entitled the ‘Formation Programme’, further information can be found under ‘Curriculum Details’.

I hope you find this website interesting and informative, but there is no substitute for a personal visit where you can see for yourself what makes us so different.  We look forward to welcoming you to St John’s soon.
