Extra Curricular Activities

The extra-curricular activity programme at St John’s Beaumont forms an essential part of the boys’ time with us.  We offer daily after-school activities to all boys at the school, with a view to offering a variety of academic, creative and sports sessions, beyond those that might usually be offered during the school day.

The content and make-up of our activity programme changes from term to term, in order to provide opportunities to everyone to take part in an activity of their choosing. Activities such as Climbing, Debating, Lego Club, Martial Arts, Science Club and Swimming form the activity programme, with boys also being invited to train with certain sport squads or academic scholar groups.

Given that participation in the Activity Programme is optional, we emphasise the need for boys to make their own choices of sessions in which to participate. This encourages them to pursue interests that might be new to them, or in which they excel, however it is by offering activities that might challenge them that we can bring about the greatest change in their resilience and open-mindedness.

The activities that are available are delivered by either school staff or external organisations. It is of huge benefit for both staff and boys that the staff led activities draw on a particular interest of that member of staff. In a more relaxed environment, where a staff member can share their passion in an interest that is away from their teaching specialism, they can build a stronger relationship with the children taking part, based around a common interest.

Our activity programme is run by the school Activity Co-ordinator, and they can be contacted at [email protected], should you have any questions about the programme, or have a skill that you might like to delivery to the boys at St John’s Beaumont.
