SJB STAFF V PARENTS CRICKET MAY 2022

Match Report by Mr Hennessy

Having won the toss, the parents opted to field with gloomy conditions overhead. The staff put up a competitive total in challenging conditions of 110/6. Mr Walsh got the staff off to a flying start which was supported by Mr Hennessy and Mr Leather in the middle and later overs. Perhaps the staff could have accelerated more but lost Mr Snell to a duck off the bowling of Mr Fenton. Other notable mentions were Mr Kyriacou’s late cut for 4 and Mr Dodds’ reverse sweep. Mr Nakarja also took an excellent catch to dismiss Mr Hennessy.

In reply, the parents got off to a steady start, but the staff kept things tight with Mr Stait using his experience to tie down the parents. Two great catches by Mr Clements pegged the parents back further. Some solid middle-order batting and wayward staff bowling made the finish tight. 11 needed off the last over with Mr Walsh held back to bowl it. Eventually, the parents fell 2 runs short despite some valiant hitting at the end.

The game was played in great spirit and enjoyed by all. Big thanks to everyone participating and supporting.
